Nordkapp against all odds!
13th of June 2016. My boss called me in his office and told me that I receive only 2 weeks of holiday at the beginning of August! Oh, my! Oh, my! Suddenly, my dream trip became a nightmare. All my plans seemed to go to waste. I thought about this trip for more than a year and now the chances to fulfil my wishes dropped from 10 to 0 in 5 seconds. Or 5 words.”You get 2 weeks holiday.” Oh s * * t! Ok. Deep breath. Count to 3. Alexandra, you’re gonna make it! 9200 km in 2 weeks straight. August. A BMW F800 GS and a lot of desire for adventure and discovering the world. This was, in broad lines, my summer holiday for 2016. No bikinis, no laying on the beach, no cocktails or sexy dresses this year. It was worth it? Hell, yeah! I started this journey from Transylvania, with my boyfriend and a good friend from Switzerland whom we planned to meet on the road, somewhere in Poland. Of course that we weren’t able to stick to the plan due to the non-stop rain that our friend caught in the first day. Was it hard? […]

Motonest trip to Nordkapp 2016
Nordkapp, the upper end of the earth. It’s like a magnet for every motorcyclist. Some even say that you become a motorcyclist only after you reach Nordkapp. But anyway, the experience of getting there and back is one that will surely remain in everyone’s top. So it is with us.

Atlantic Road Norway
No matter how much you talk about Atlantic road, you can’t describe exactly how you feel when you ride a motorcycle. So the easiest thing for us is to share our video.

Why leaving comfort life behind and riding around the world?
”What direction should I take to circle the globe?” ”East or West?” ”What do you think?” ”West… Yes, West is a good choice.” ”But why?” ”Because that’s what you want.” This simple and inspiring advice was given to me by Chris, a traveller around the world for the last four and a half years. In his simple answer, he had revealed to me his life-guiding principle of the last few years: he goes wherever he feels like in the spur of the moment. Horizons Unlimited. Switzerland, 21 August 2017. A meeting of adventurous bikers, from all over the world. Yes, even from Argentina or New Zealand. Around 50 dusty trail motorbikes gathered around in a simple camping park. The bikes are loaded with luggage, bearing many old stickers, deteriorated by sun and rain, gathered from the transit countries. The bikers become friends fast, the dialogues get started easily. Most of them have never met before, yet they seem to know each other. There is something invisible that connects them all, and that is the love for adventure on two wheels. Find out how : ”You ride. We pay your gas!” Chris started his journey driven by a desire to make […]

A walk in the pink lake.
” Stop, stop! I want to take a picture! ” I told to Nicolay in the comunicator. Beyond Istanbul over 400 km you start to feel Asia. The advantage of a motorcycle trip is indisputable. You can see things as they are in their day by day life. Far from the tourist areas, everything is ” like at them ” and has nothing to do with anything you know or knew until then. There’s no doubt that their habits will look strange. Probably the same thing they would say about us if they would visit us. On the edge of a huge pink lake, everyone was bumping and clinging to the same place. Why? Simply because they were staying there as a crowd. Otherwise the shores of the lake were empty and perfectly identical to the crowded place. Turkey June 2019

Must see to understand why NO!
I’ve seen it in several shots, even in some movie sequence, but I never imagined it was so huge. I do not think I can tell exactly why certain places are attracting me to see them. Some may because they just exist, others for their beauty, others for their history or even their oddities, some because they are hard to reach and I could find a whole lot of reasons. But every place I saw was motivated. Of course there are surprise places, you get over them and you are wondering. these are the prettiest ones. Why did I choose to see the Buzludzha monument? I think of curiosity at first. But after seeing him I can say it is probably the most kitch and one of the most ugly buildings ever seen. The Communists broke about 10 meters from the top of a mountain and built a construction of about 35 million dollars, just to glorify communism. Now all the flying flying saucer is guarded by a guard who unfortunately did not want to take us the 20 euros we offered to bring us in. Buzludzha monument must be seen, but not for the horribility that somehow spoils the […]

7 dollars cost for a DIY photo camera/gopro mounting suport.
It happens many times to find out around the corner a beautiful landscape. And the wish to record that on camera came immediately. And the trouble with it. If you do not have the proper gear (camera accessories) fitted on your motorcycle, you have to stop , take out the camera, try to fit it somewhere and you’ll always be with one eye to see if it didn’t fall down. I tried, like many of you did, to put it on my helmet, but it started to pull my head back anytime I had a little bit more speed. I searched for some mounting support which needed to match with the idea of fitting in easily; to be able to leave the camera on the mounting support and switch it on and off whenever seeing a beautiful landscape popping out the corner. Today, in my way to the city, a policemen on a motorcycle just passed by in front of me with his lights on …. WOW . His strobe lights were on and fitted on a stick. I turned around, drove straight to Home Base shop and with a cost of only 7 dollars look what it came out, using […]

Hello world!
Hi! I’m Titus and I’m proud to be a motorcyclist! I started travelling around home at the beginning and afterwards I got far and far away. I realized in my journeys that every single day spent with my motorcycle, on the road, was a blessed day. That’s because of a different lifestyle. Traveling-on-a-motorcycle kind of lifestyle. One of my biggest concerns when I travel on a motorcycle is the place where I have to park it overnight. I always look for a safe parking. Now let me tell you how the idea of this website came into my mind. In every place I go, at some stage in the evening, I use to grab my phone, to look into hundreds of offers for accommodation, for a place where my motorcycle is safe and secure. I have never found one at a first sight, without a previous booking. Along with my collaborators, all motorcyclists, we created this place which has them all: secure accommodation for you and your motorcycle, places where you can eat and have a good time, shops where you can buy gear and parts for your moto, places where you can solve mechanical problems and the most important thing: a […]

Hi there!
My name is Alexandra and I ride motorcycles. It all started 2 years ago when I was in searching for new adventures. My curiosity led me to the point where I needed to try out that sexy thing with 2 wheels named motorcycle. I wanted to dropped out at the passenger seat and to take over the “helm”. I like to feel that I am in control with a lot of daily things so why not to be in control over a motorcycle? In a short period of time I realised that it all went to a whole new level. I was deeply in love with what became a lifestyle, with my motorcycle, with the new life that was opening in front of me, new adventures and new places. I have never seen the world as I could see it now, through the eyes of a motorcyclist. It’s simply …A-mazing! I started to travel more and more each day and km after km I become aware of the fact that I can’t get enough. Even thought you think of speed, craziness and insanity when you hear of motorcyclists (and you are not one of them), the majority of motorcyclists think […]

World ride 2016 and MotoNest
World ride 2016 is the project of some very ambitious and courageous honeymooners who started their travel around the globe. Motonest is delighted to join and assist them through their travels.Florin and Diana Moraru marked on the Motonest Map useful spots on their road. Like an explorer marks on his map the points where he feels more safe about. The top 5 common Motorcycle Faults ( poll )
We all know that it’s not a matter of ”If ” but a matter of ”When” you stop your motorcycle on the side of the road because of a fault. Personally, I was unable to continue my trip only once in 70 000 km, when my alternator belt get ripped and in not more than 40 km I stopped. To continue it was nearly impossible because I haven’t got a spare one. So the solution was a tow-truck. 🙁 Of course there are lots of tutorials on the web which show us how to change an alternator belt (in my case) and lots of tutorials of how to change and repair all kind of problems which can occur on a motorcycle during a trip. Maybe not all of us have the technical skills and passion for mechanical things. But all of us prefer to ride the motorcycle instead of repairing it. If you do not want to call the tow-truck services you need to have the tools, the spare parts and the knowledge to sort out your motorcycle fault. I must tell that it’s almost impossible to have them all with you. So I decided to make a list of […]

Where will you ride next season?
Where will you ride next season? What kind of road will you take? What kind of amenities will you have on the road? What kind of help will you get in case you need? These are the types of questions which come through your mind even if the season is not finished already. Because the more we ride, the more we want to keep on doing this. If you take a look on the social media is impossible not to notice that motorcyclists are like pioneers, willing to try new routes every year; new challenges. We all know that nothing’s more attractive than a journey or a route which ends up well and safe, with a whole bunch of good memories, a heart full of joy and new friends from different corners of the world. Based on the answers at our top question, the Motonest Team works continuously on finding more safe nests for you and your motorcycle, on preparing for your next journey. Even if you just search an accommodation to spend the night or where to stop for a mechanical problem to repair your motorcycle, or just to change a pair of gloves in a moto shop is good to […]

Traveling in Spain with Jenny O’Grady – Guest blog
We are pleased to share Jenny O’Grady’ s traveling story, our guest blog from https://webuyanybike.com I passed my motorcycle test 8 months ago. I’ve wanted a motorbike licence for as long as I can remember, but something always seemed to take priority. It takes time, commitment training and quite a lot of money… and there was a part of me that never believed I would actually go for it. There is usually a catalyst which makes you go for something which has previously only ever been a thought. For me, it was when I made the link between travelling and motorbikes. Travelling the world is something that is massively important to me, it’s the thing that drives me to work harder and earn more money. I have a dream of one day being able to live as a nomad in Mongolia, but until then.. I’ll make do with bursts of travelling for 6 month and holiday breaks. When I realised people could travel long distance on a motorcycle a rush of amazement flooded in. It seems obvious but unless you are searching for it, you don’t hear a massive amount on people travelling on bikes. Apart from The Long Way […]

Can a Motorcycle be better than 10 psychologists?
Here I am, over 40. In spite of the fact that now I understand much better what is happening around me, even if sometimes I feel that the responsibilities are putting too much pressure on my shoulders, I still remember very well my vision about life from when I was 25. Well, the years just rolled by from when I was 25, the age when you feel that your boss is extremely stupid and you see yourself in his place in a couple of months. It took me some long time to achieve that and it was much harder that I thought at the beginning. It took as well many years to see my daughter grew up, becoming an adolescent and when I was thinking that we will understand each other better, she told me that she’s always right and I’m always wrong. I needed a long time to understand that not always the people who say ”I will stand by you forever” really mean it and sometimes it takes a long time to recover from the disappointments. Like it wasn’t enough, I started to feel harder and harder the years of paying the mortgage at the house where I live […]

Motorcycle vs 10 psychologists? Part 2 ( the battle result )
Last week I was sharing with you how I choose a motorcycle against a psychologist and how my life changed after that. I got numerous messages which made me feel that I’m in a brotherhood. I thank you all for that, it is much more than I expected! Seeing so many people agreeing with me and thinking that motorcycle can help that much, I asked a former high school colleague who became a psychologist, to give me a scientific explanation for that. Some people may need this explanation in case they are wondering whether to join this wonderful brotherhood of riders or not. Here is what Dr. L.R. wrote to me : ” Why a ride with your motorcycle is better than a bunch of psychologists? Well, it’s not the psychologist himself but the method which may be in some cases inadequate to the situation or, it doesn’t have the desirable effect. Then it is tried another method, another procedure and this may lead, paradoxically, to the increase of stress… The stress it’s just a normal reaction of our psychic at events and situations which affect its balance. Meant to protect us, the stress is the one that keeps us focused, gives us energy […]

You ride. We pay your gas!
I think the answer at this question is “it wouldn’t be bad at all if that could only be possible”. Well, it is possible! Motonest has created for motorcyclists the Rider / Agent Account. The “50% financial Benefit” Package is especially for motorcyclists registered on Motonest.com with a Rider/ Agent Account. Let’s take a concrete example to see how it works: Let’s assume you ride on your bike and you stop at a certain BnB/Guesthouse/Hotel which you find out is a biker friendly place, with safe parking place for your motorcycle. You will talk with the manager or the owner of the place about adding his/hers location on the Motonest Map and Motonest Applications. Use Motonest mobile app from your phone. The subscription of the location on Motonest is simple to do by following the steps from motonest.com (http://www.motonest.com/members-account/) . Following this suggestion, the owner of the Nest can take the decision to register his location on Motonest immediately or in the next days. It is enough to email us at bonus@motonest.com with the name of the location, the address or any other detail which you consider important. If the subscription is done in maximum 5 days since you send your […]

The advice (opinion) of a motorcyclist does matter!
I always listen to motorcyclist’s advice. Time is precious and when I have to search for Motorcycle friendly places, I don’t want to waste my time with useless experiences and I pretty much take the motorcyclist’s recommendations very seriously. The idea of “Motorcycle friendly” or “Bikers welcome” is not new and if all these places could be connected together, we can easily create a network of places and services based on the motorcyclists ’recommendations. It would be excellent to have on this network as many motorcycle friendly services as necessary, not only accommodations or restaurants. And if this network could be easy to access from anywhere in the world and the network would be updated in real time – that would be just perfect! It doesn’t sound bad at all, does it? At first I wasn’t thinking at this at all, but finding myself on the side of the road for almost 6 hours in a place where I didn’t know where to head for (to find a store where I could buy a damn alternator belt) gave me a lot to think about. At that time I remember mumbling “Well, s**t happens!” and shortly after that it happened again. I was very […]

When saying Milan…
It’s very interesting the meaning of the word Milan for those who don’t live in it and Milan can mean so many things from so many different domains for every one of us. If you would ask a beautiful women, passioned about fashion, what the word Milan means to her, she would tell you right away without hesitation the name of some famous brands. If you are asking a historian what Milan means for him, he would joyfully list you the great monuments and pieces of fascinating history of this beautiful town. Hereunder, those in love with the Italian cuisine would feel spoiled by tasting the unique traditional Italian flavours. Thus, when saying Milan, you say by default passion and many of us when saying passion say… motorcycling. I think that EICMA is not being held in Milan just because there is a gathering place for motorcyclists, but because there is the place where motoring dresses up refined clothes and it shows itself like a fashion show. EICMA is not a place where only the technical details are taken into consideration, but also the look matters. I am absolutely convinced that, alike beautiful women with scores of dresses in the […]

Are you buying a motorcycle? Few steps and advices to follow.
It is hard to believe that there is a rider who hasn’t tried at least once to buy a motorcycle already used. The transactions of the used motorcycles are a lot more than the sales of the new ones. Obviously, the criteria of selection of a new motorcycle differs a lot from a rider to another, but there are some aspects which are common when you want to buy a used motorcycle. The first place when searching for a second hand motorcycle is on different websites where you can dig in through classified offers in order to find the model and the year that you wish for. The price is one of the most important elements because, on the contrary, we would all buy only new motorcycles, wouldn’t we? I’m going to take as subject of our article a real example (mine) of buying a used motorcycle, mentioning that no matter what type of motorcycle are you buying, the steps are pretty much the same. First of all I searched through the well-known selling websites (for Europe) such as: mobile.de, autoscout24.com, 1000ps.de, 1000ps.at, willhaben.at/iad, subito.it, 2dehands.be, moto.it, leboncoin.fr, car.gr. A big part of this list of websites was suggested by […]

”Overlander Health” or how to maintain your health while travelling
Nobody wants to be sick! Even being at home, in your own comfort, watching TV. Imagine how important your health is on a trip or more than that, on an motorcycle adventure. I’m pretty sure that all of us heard about stories with bad endings, where was involved the travelers health status. Nevertheless, each of us knows that while travelling, a sick partner can ruin or stop our adventure. Even so, we cannot predict anything from the start and we have to adapt and sort out problems on the way. At the end, even those kind of experiences are part of our journey. How much we know how to deal with health issues on our trips, what to do, how fast, where to go, for what to look for, are just few of the questions which might happen in an unwanted bad health situation. On Motonest we have a dedicated category named ‘’Medical units’’ and we include in this category any kind of medical unit or medical point, which can be very useful to our fellows travelers. If you would like to register or even to suggest a medical unit just press here and follow the steps. You never know […]

How the Coronavirus will change our motorcyclist lifestyle?
I am sure that you have thought at least for once about your motorcycle, during this period in which you must stay at home due to the restrictions imposed by the Coronavirus pandemic. Going to the garage and getting on your motorcycle, imagining yourself on a winding road, is no longer a funny thing, it became as serious as possible. Some motorcyclists even put on their gear and start taking selfies in the living room as they were real divas. Stop! From here we stop the movie, because it can become dangerous! But everything is happening now. How it is going to be after this pandemic passes, in which the strongest urge to #Stayathome, could be and will be changed with #goriding, get out on a motorcycle! ” What will change in our motorcyclist life, if something that can affect us directly will be different? We will travel more, or less? How important is going to be our motorcycle, in our post-crisis life? Will all of these motorcyclist habits and preferences change after the isolation period will pass? Certainly, there will be changes in the motorcycle industry, and all of these changes will come, as usual, from the demands on […]

Easy to find, simple to use!
“I and my wife, Andrea, traveled from Switzerland to Budapest this summer. It was a long ride on a highway and we got tired in Vienna. We searched for a place to sleep on some online platforms, nothing available except those places where a night costs as much as our entire holiday budget. With nearly no hope I opened Motonest Mobile App. I just pressed dial on the first B&B displayed on the screen and I’ve done the reservation right away, on the phone: a room with breakfast and private parking, close to the center, with only 72 euros. Simple and easy!” (Arpad & Andrea Kscibi, Hungary) Find out how : ”You ride. We pay your gas!” Pension Ribisch “When I wanted to subscribe the Rider Account I said to myself: First of all I’ll try to see if I can convince somebody to subscribe on Motonest and only afterwards I’ll subscribe myself, to see if the 50% Benefit Package for riders really works this way. And it worked! I got 19.5$ just by talking with the owner of a motorcycle shop from California about Motonest. But the great thing was when I made two suggestions in the very same […]
